Web security and the Reputational Issues for Brands

For most marketing brands, web security is a matter that will affect their reputation. The Citizens Advice Bureau and Google have launched a new campaign advising people, how their data is used in advertising, as well as providing information on how to keep their details secure.

According to research commissioned for the campaign, over four million people in the UK have fallen victim to identity fraud. While this can be financially costly for individuals, when it happens to a brand there is the potential for serious reputational damage – particularly when social media accounts are compromised. Although many companies like Coulson Organisation have enough preventive measures to protect their customers data online, further move in this area is needed. (more…)

In days of social media, building online reputation is not a difficult task, for anyone; and quite impressive the news it was that we got to hear about fund-raising activities from Calgary (Alberta), Canada. The place is not only famous for Calgary Stampede, where you often see cow-boys perform for you, but then, the place is equally famous for generosity of people in economic depression…

“Gossip is the Devil’s radio…”

We all love gossip! It is like, most of us enjoy it to the full, and can talk at length about the other person (without any fact or information); and Ha! here is the big question – what if you are the ‘victim of any gossip’? How would that feel, being the ‘center of attraction’ the other way? Hey, I am not here for ‘mudslinging’, and do not want you to eavesdrop on somebody for anything (Shh!); just wanted you to know, how ‘gossips’ have got into the BUSINESS WORLD; yes, the corporate world is not ‘untouched’ with this trend…!

Thanks to Social Media, which many use to bring down image of others, so as to overpower them in business; look around, and you will find N number of companies/organizations with this and that (on offer) to woo customers; some follow ethical business practice, while others are open to ‘all levels’ of business malpractice…that they can think of, to mar reputation of others! It is like, business units are more concerned in what NEW (today) they could get to hear ‘bad’ about their competitors; healthy competition in business is rare, as not many practice it…! One fine day, while having a chat with Spencer Green over a cup of tea, we came across few comments written by people (about a company) in one of social networking sites – mostly, it were bad comments! We were surprised (would say, SHOCKED) to read those comments about that company, and thought, how people can write so, without any fact or information; people/companies are good at doing this to their competitors, and I wonder, why (?)…!
